How to use the GPA Calculator
- Pick a letter grade and the credit hours for each course this term.
- Optionally add your current cumulative GPA and completed credits.
- Read your term GPA and the updated cumulative GPA.
How it works
Each letter grade is worth grade points on the 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, Aโ = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 โฆ F = 0). Multiply by the course credits to get quality points:
GPA = ฮฃ(grade points ร credits) รท ฮฃ creditsCumulative GPA combines the quality points from earlier terms (old GPA ร old credits) with this term's points, divided by all credits.
Frequently asked questions
Is an A+ worth more than 4.0?
At most U.S. colleges an A+ counts as 4.0, the same as an A. Some schools use 4.3 for A+; check your registrar's grading policy.
Do pass/fail courses count toward GPA?
Usually not. Pass/fail or credit/no-credit courses earn credits toward graduation but are left out of the GPA calculation. Leave them out here too.
How do I raise my cumulative GPA quickly?
High grades in courses with many credits move the average most. The more credits you already have, the slower your cumulative GPA changes, so early terms matter a lot.
